ingredients for classic chili
- 2 cups cooked chili beans
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 chopped tomatoes
- 1 chopped green bell pepper
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- salt and black pepper to taste
first add the olive oil and chopped onions in a skillet over medium heat and cook for 5 minutes until the onions are tender. then add minced garlic, chili powder and saute for about 2 minutes.
now add ground beef and break it apart with a wooden spoon.
cook the ground beef for 6 to 7 minutes until it’s no longer pink, then add the tomato paste, salt, sugar and black pepper stir to combine and cook for about 5 minutes.
then add the chopped tomato and bell pepper.
stir well and cook until the tomato and bell pepper are almost tender.
then add cooked pinto beans and stir to combine.
at the end pour in beef broth.
now simmer the mixture over low heat for 15 to 20 minute until thickened enough.
