I don’t know what experience you have with lentils, but for me it is a very delicious dinner that I enjoy more than any food and I really like the taste. This lentil soup is a little different from ordinary lentils and is common in some provinces of Iran. Many people like lentils for breakfast, but I think it is better for dinner.
- 1 cup lentils
- 1 onion
- 1 potato
- 3 cups of water
- Salt, pepper and cinnamon
- Liquid oil to frying onions
Steps of preparing lentils with fry onion
It is better to soak the lentils for an hour or two beforehand. Then put it on the heat to cook with water.
Chop the potatoes and slice the onions and after the lentils are half cooked, add the potatoes.
Fry the onions in oil and add turmeric until golden. When it’s golden add cinnamon.
When the potatoes are cooked in the lentils, take out the potato pieces. There is no problem if you don’t want to take out a few pieces of potato. (For convenience, it is better to chop the potato pieces coarser. You can even put the potatoes right in the lentils that is easy to remove) then we puree the potatoes and add them to the fry onion and add all the ingredients to lentils while cooking.
Add salt and pepper to the lentils and after ten minutes it is ready.
Serve with some fry onion.
