Cinnamon rolls are a type of sweet soft bread. They are really good looking and their smell is amazing. Who doesn't want some for breakfast or brunch?
Warm the milk (30° to 40°C). Mix sugar and instant yeast in your warm milk.
Add eggs and butter. The warm milk should melt the butter but if you think the milk is not warm enough to melt it, melt the butter separately and add it to the milk afterwards.
Add flour and salt to the milk.
Don't add too much flour to the dough. You should knead it well to reach the perfect texture.
Spread some flour in a bowl and put the dough inside it. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and set in a warm and dark place to rise for 1 hour and a half. After that, the dough should have nearly doubled in size.
Take the dough out of the bowl and put it on an even surface.
Roll the dough out into a square or a rectangle and spread the softened butter evenly over it.
Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar on the dough and cover the whole surface.
Roll up the dough slowly.
Make sure that the rolls don't open when they are baking. close the ending with your hands properly.
Cut the roll to 6 or 8 even parts with a string.
Grease a pan and place the rolls inside it. Let the rolls rest again for 25 minutes.
The rolls would rise a little and they are ready to bake.
If the rolls are not too tall you can leave them without the foil but mine were tall and I covered them so they wont be burnt. If the rolls are shorter, you can take them out of the oven sooner.
In the last 10 remaining minutes, I took the foil out.
Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla.
Whisk until every thing is completely combined and smooth.
Finally after the rolls are cool enough, spread the icing evenly over the cinnamon rolls.
As you can see, the cinnamon rolls have the soft and fluffy texture that you have always dreamed of.
Tips and tricks
- Test the instant yeast to make sure it is fresh and active. Mix one tablespoon of instant yeast and one teaspoon of sugar with a half glass of warm water. cover it and put it in a dark warm place for 15 minutes. If it doubles in size the yeast is fresh.
- Use warm milk. It helps the butter to melt. it can also help you to make better dough.
- The dough of cinnamon rolls is not too sweet but after adding the brown sugar and The cream cheese icing it will taste really sweet and delicious.
