ingredients for pumpkin pure
A pumpkin is all you need to make a delicious homemade pumpkin pure. The size of the pumpkin is up to you.
First wash the pumpkin well. Now remove the stem and cut the pumpkin to smaller pieces.
Remove the seeds. You can save the seeds to roast them later.
Place the pumpkin pieces in a large pan and add 1/4 cup water too.
Cover the pot and let the pumpkin cook on medium heat for about 1 to 2 hours until a fork pierces through the pumpkin easily. There will probably be some liquid in the bottom of your pan so increase the heat to high, uncover the pot and let it simmer until the liquid evaporates.
Allow the pumpkin to cool enough that you can handle and then remove the flesh from the shell with a spoon.
Place the cooked pumpkin in a food processor.
Pulse 4 to 6 times until smooth.
Now your fresh homemade pumpkin puree is ready to use. You can also keep it in fridge for 1 week or freeze it up to six months.
