Ingredients for baked mac and cheese
- 8 ounce macaroni
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika powder
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- salt and pepper to taste
Bring a large pot of water to boil then add salt and the macaronis. Cook the macaronis for 8 to 10 minutes until cook through but still firm, then drain.
Meanwhile, In a skillet over medium heat saute one teaspoon of the garlic and 2 tablespoon of butter for about 2 minutes.
Add the flour and Saute about 3 minutes until smooth.
Pour the milk into the mixture slowly and stir continuously for about 5 minutes until it is smooth and thickened, then add one cup of cheddar cheese Stir the mixture continuously until the cheese is melted.
Add the mozzarella cheese too Stir until the cheese is melted.
Add the macaroni into the cheese mixture. Stir until well combined.
Place the mixture in a lightly greased baking dish.
Place bread crumbs, the rest of garlic, thyme, paprika and melted butter into a bowl.
Add the rest of the cheddar cheese and stir to combine.
Sprinkle bread crumbs mixture on top. Place the baking dish in a preheated oven to 350 F for 30 minutes until the topping begins to brown and the pasta bubbling at the edges.
